Here are some quick exciting updates: 1. We've officially obtained non-profit status as project of the International Humanities Center. This means we can recieve tax deductible donations of funds and resources, equipment etc. If you are in a position to donate or have friends or family that might be, please just go to the front of our webpage: http://www.gaian-mind.org and follow the donation instructions. 2. Beginning in May we'll have Natalie, a graduate department anthropologist at UC Irvine moving in. She'll be sharing a room with local conscious film maker Oriana. We'll have more info up on the amazing wonderful projects they've done on their own and initiate here at the Gaian Mind soon. 3. Wendy from the UC Santa Cruz Community Studies department will be moving in July first to do a 6 month 40 per week live-in internship. Learn about this here: http://gaian-mind.org/cs/node/1181 4. We really need local friends and supporters to help us with staffing the shop. Right now most of the collective works full time off-site to keep the place alive. Now that we're a non-profit there's hope that we'll be able to get donations to cover the costs of running the center, but right now we're not able to make progress because we're bound by our work schedules. We really need folks to volunteer to hang out in the shop, eat vegan food all you can eat, use the internet and long distance phone FOR FREE! We just need people there so we can have the shop open for used box customers. We can't really increase marketing/advertising for the box business (which we made over $1000 a month running last summer), until we know that the shop will be staffed. So if you're a college student that would normally pay to sit at a coffee shop, be charged for food, internet, etc. Come here and have access to lots of resources free. You'll just have to sell a few boxes a couple times throughout the day. Please call us 562 552 9930 if you'd like volunteer. Keep in mind, if you're in school there are lots of creative ways for us to help you get academic course credit, extra credit, community service credit etc. for being here and helping out!
